Vikings down HPC

A big second quarter propelled Northwest Guilford's boys basketball team to a Piedmont Triad 4-A win on Jan. 4.

After ending the first quarter in a 10-all tie, the Vikings (11-4, 2-1 PTC) outscored the Bison 16-8 in the second en route to a 53-49 win.

In the fourth quarter, with the game on the line, Northwest Guilford was able to make 10 out of 11 free throws to ice the contest.

Nick Powell led Northwest with 20 points, while Colson Everett chipped in with 12 points for the Vikings.

The Vikings recognized Cody Hylton for scoring his 1,000th career point during the Timco Invitational Tournament against Ragsdale.
