GUILFORD COUNTY - Guilford County Council of PTAs President Kelly Langston expects to see at least 100 parents from local schools join her at the Guilford County Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday night to urge commissioners to fully fund the 2013-14 Guilford County Schools budget.
The group, made up of PTAs from schools around the county, hopes parents come together to show elected officials their support for public schools, Langston said.
"Standing together for children is critical now for the future of both public education and our precious children," Langston said. "PTA believes in the power of the parent voice and the future of all children."
Langston said the group hopes the county commissioners will see the importance of funding public schools in the amount requested by Guilford County Schools. She also hopes the group can send a message to Raleigh that parents want their schools adequately funded.
The Guilford County Board of Commissioners meeting is scheduled for Thursday beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room on the second floor of the Old Courthouse in Greensboro.
