A man was shot during a domestic dispute at an Oak Ridge residence after 2 a.m. on the morning of July 20.
Guilford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call from 8022 Linville Road during the early morning hours and located a subject who suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The subject was transported to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Detective D.K. Jones, the gunshot victim admitted going to the location and engaging in an argument with his mother in one part of the residence and the man’s uncle was awakened by the quarrel. As the argument moved to the front of the house, shots were fired. Jones said following the shots, the shooting victim at least took his car to the roadway of the residence before getting out and advancing toward the home. At that point, he said, additional shots were fired.
Jones said the investigation is still ongoing, and once all information is in, the sheriff’s office will submit their findings to the district attorney’s office to determine whether or not charges will be filed.
